Bandhej Sarees -
"Bandhna" and "Bandha" are derived from the Hindi and Sanskrit terms "Bandhna" and "Bandha," which both mean "tying" or "to knot." An abbreviation for this term is bandhej. It is the traditional Indian skill of tying and dying (a resist-dying method that employs impermeable threads for tying) that is used to create beautiful, delicate circular patterns on textiles. An ancient art form, bandhani is still practised today.
The Bandhani dots are used to give different patterns from traditional floral to contemporary ones. The base fabric must be flexible to the pressure given while creating the patterns. Our Bandhani Sarees are made entirely by hand, the use of heavy-duty commercial dyes and dye-stuffs is either limited or non-existent while creating this textile.
We use only natural dyes such as Indigo or colours derived from plant roots, vegetables, flowers, and leaves were used in the creation of Bandhej. Bandhanis at kalaashree is available in Taffeta Silk, Chiffon & Semi Georgette. The colors used are vibrant in Red, Maroon, Green, Blue and etc.
